Character Development

SKILLS

            Skills are broken down into five main categories General, Subterfuge, Weapon, Magic and Secondary.  Because adventuring classes specialize to some extent in arms or magic, physical skills or thieving ones, they gain various amounts based upon their class advancement.  See the Character Class Table in the Character Creation section. 

 

Notes for skills:

Key Stat provides a modifier based on the character stat. 

Untrained means a character can use the skill as an everyman or common level, but they are at a “0” rank, gaining the stat modifier and any other but loosing the rank or level modifier.  However, those skills that require training place the character at a –25% (-5 on d20) when attempting to perform a maneuver that requires the skill.

Armor Penalty reflects the limits armor places on a characters dexterity and strength.  This penalty will vary based on the type of armor. 

Additional Penalties are those added to the maneuver based on some other factor. 

Bonus Skills are those related to the original skill and thus learned at ½ the cost.  Where a skill may require four picks to acquire,
